St Helena School
St Helena School is a highly-regarded, oversubscribed, 11-16 co-educational comprehensive school, situated in central Colchester. It serves a split catchment covering part of central Colchester, along with a separate area which incorporates many villages to the north of the town.
At St Helena School, we expect all students to develop a passion for lifelong learning; to test the boundaries of their abilities and to develop the growth mindset necessary to face the future with confidence. We promote this via our ‘6 Rs’ – we want every child to leave us as Responsible, Reflective, Reasoning, Resourceful, Resilient and Respectful individuals.
In June 2014, Ofsted rated the school as ‘Good’. In 2015 and 2016 students made better progress at St Helena on average than students with the same starting points do nationally. We recognise that this success derives from the strong partnerships that the school develops with its parents. By working together we can ensure that each student receives the best support and guidance available. We want each child to be happy in school and believe that our vibrant, caring and successful community is an environment in which every child can feel secure.
